Guardian professionals have worked on disaster recovery projects related to all the major Florida hurricanes in recent history, including Andrew, Charley, Frances, Jeanne, and Wilma. 

Selected Disaster Recovery Experience:

Hurricane Wilma

• Programs: CDBG Disaster Recovery, SHIP, HHRP, FHFC, USDA, HUD, along with FEMA, SBA, and other homeowner efforts. Features partnership with State, Federal, local officials and agencies.
• Over $5 million in funding leveraged and invested in the community for mitigation, rehab, repairs and redevelopment (infrastructure). Guardian staff members provide program administration, construction administration, housing rehabilitation project delivery and leveraging expertise.
• At least 65 housing units will be addressed (Rehab, Demo/Replace, & Purchase Assistance).

Hurricanes Charley & Frances

• Programs: CDBG Disaster Recovery, CDBG Set-Aside, SHIP, FEMA Public Assistance, FEMA Mitigation.
• Features partnership with State, Federal, Local officials and agencies.
• Over $40,000,000 in funding leveraged and invested in the community for mitigation, rehabilitation, repairs and redevelopment. Guardian staff develped program and provided project coordination and oversight.
• Over 160 Housing units addressed (Rehab and Demo/Replacement).
• Projects were in Areas of Critical Economic Concern, Enterprise Zones, and Coastal Counties.

Hurricane Andrew

• Programs: CDBG Disaster Recovery, CDBG Set-Aside, FEMA Public Assistance, FEMA Mitigation.
• Features partnership with State, Federal, Local Officials and agencies.
• Over $50,000,000 in funding leveraged and invested in the community for mitigation, rehabilitation, repairs and redevelopment.
• Over 400 Housing units addressed (Rehab and Demo/Replacement).
